Fiction

I was once told that fiction writing was one of the easiest mediums to tackle when crafting literary art. The complete and utter freedom allows the potential writer to scribe all and any of their dreams, fears, drug-induced hallucinations, loves & joys, tragically comedic scenarios, retelling of events, and anything else they want onto the page. With endless possibilities, how could 'difficulty' possibly factor in?

And to that I must say, with complete confidence and severity: bullshit.

Non-fiction books are basically glorified research papers about shit that happened before and journalistic pieces are basically glorified research papers about shit happening now. And poetry? Well, I recall an acquaintance of mine saying "Prosa oratio. Straight, direct, unadorned speech. In other words, fuck your flowery, depressing, hidden meaning bullshit poetry and get to the bloody point." Fun guy.

The point I'm trying to make is that writing fiction is a frustratingly infuriating process where you're trying to make something from nothing and beat it until it's entertaining. It is not something to be regarded lightly.
